Community Agreements & Practice
-
Submitting an application or making a payment does not automatically confirm participation, attendance or placement.
Some offerings, camps, residency pathways and community opportunities require a review process to ensure they are a suitable fit for both the applicant and the wider community.
Applications are generally reviewed within four business days. Applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible.
Where payment has been made prior to approval and an application is not accepted, a full refund will be provided unless otherwise stated.
A booking, placement or participation is only considered confirmed once written confirmation has been received from JAANYMILI.
-
Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend an event, session or gathering.
Deposits may be non-refundable unless otherwise specified within the offering.
Where possible, bookings may be transferred to another person or applied to a future offering at the discretion of the organisers.
Refund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account preparation costs, committed resources and the timing of the cancellation.
-
Participants are responsible for their own physical, emotional and mental wellbeing throughout their involvement with JAANYMILI.
Please communicate any relevant health conditions, injuries, accessibility requirements, dietary needs or personal circumstances that may affect your participation.
All activities are undertaken voluntarily and at your own discretion.
We encourage each person to listen deeply to their own body, energy, capacity and circumstances, and to participate in ways that support their wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around them.
-
We ask all participants to contribute to a culture of kindness, consent, respect, accountability and shared responsibility.
We welcome diversity of experience, perspectives and backgrounds.
Behaviour that causes harm, repeatedly disrupts community wellbeing, breaches consent or places others at risk may result in participation being paused, reviewed or discontinued.
Where challenges arise, we aim to approach them through communication, process work and restorative practices wherever possible.
-
Photographs, videos and recordings may occasionally be taken during gatherings, workshops and community events.
If you do not wish to appear in photographs or media, please let us know and we will do our best to honour your preferences.
JAANYMILI may use approved photographs, videos and written testimonials for educational, promotional and community purposes.
-
Young people remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians unless explicit alternative arrangements have been made.
We encourage a culture of collective care, mentorship and shared responsibility while maintaining clear communication and parental oversight.
Families are encouraged to work together to create safe, respectful and supportive environments for people of all ages
-
The animals who share this place are valued members of the wider JAANYMILI family and are to be treated with care, respect and consideration.
Please seek guidance before feeding, handling or interacting with animals, as individual needs, routines and boundaries may vary.
Participants are responsible for supervising themselves and any young people in their care around animals, tools, gardens, waterways, fire and natural landscapes.
We encourage everyone to move thoughtfully through the land, respecting growing areas, wildlife habitats, shared infrastructure and the many living systems that support this place.
Where animal care, gardening, land stewardship or practical projects form part of an offering, appropriate guidance and instruction will be provided.
By participating, individuals acknowledge that community life and land-based learning involve natural risks and agree to take reasonable care for their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.
-
Applications, trial periods, community stays, memberships and residency pathways are guided by the JAANYMILI Code of Kinship.
Participation in a gathering, camp, volunteer opportunity or application process does not guarantee future residency, membership or acceptance into community pathways.
Each application is considered individually in alignment with the needs, capacity, wellbeing and direction of the wider community.
-
Community contributions may include practical assistance, shared responsibilities, financial contributions, skills sharing, land stewardship and participation in community life.
Specific expectations, responsibilities and agreements may vary between pathways, programs and events.
We encourage all participants to be honest about their skills, experience, availability and physical capacity. Contributing from a place of self-awareness helps create trust, safety and realistic expectations for everyone involved.
We ask people to communicate openly about what they can and cannot commit to, and to seek support when circumstances change.
Sustainable communities are built through honest participation rather than overextension.
-
We recognise that every person's journey within JAANYMILI is unique. Community involvement may deepen, change or come to completion over time.
We encourage open communication, honesty and care during times of transition.
Where memberships, contributions, residency arrangements or long-term commitments are involved, departures and transitions will be approached with transparency, goodwill and mutual respect.
Any financial contributions, refunds, reimbursements or exit arrangements will be assessed according to the specific agreements associated with the relevant pathway, available resources and the capacity of the community at that time.
Participation in JAANYMILI does not create ownership rights, entitlements or guarantees beyond those explicitly outlined within individual agreements.
-
As JAANYMILI continues to evolve, these agreements may be updated from time to time.
The most current version will always be available through this website.
