A four-night immersion into the living rhythm of JAANYMILI.

This is a time for individuals and families to come into closer relationship with the land and the people who hold this space. You will be welcomed into daily life — sharing meals, conversations, projects and presence together — offering a felt sense of what it means to live in community here.

This is not a casual visit. It is a step into relationship.

The contribution reflects the depth of time, energy and care involved in welcoming new people into community life. It includes camping, shared meals and the commitment of the community to be present throughout the experience.

GURRAY is designed as an initiation into the culture, rhythms and responsibilities of JAANYMILI. It allows both the individual and the community time to explore whether there is alignment for a deeper pathway together.

Should there be a shared desire to continue, the GURRAY contribution is carried forward into longer-term community pathways.

What does this include?

We recognise that financial circumstances vary, and we do not wish money alone to limit meaningful connection and participation. If you feel called to GURRAY but require an alternative exchange, payment plan or contribution arrangement, please reach out and begin a conversation with us.

At the same time, the contribution has been intentionally set at this level to reflect the depth of commitment, reciprocity and presence that we are seeking from those entering this pathway. The investment is not simply financial; it is an expression of the value placed on the experience by both the individual and the community.

A deeper step into living the rhythm of JAANYMILI.

BARRWAYA is a period of full-time trial residency, where individuals or families step into shared life on the land. This includes contributing to daily rhythms, participating in agreements, and experiencing what it means to live in ongoing relationship with others.

This pathway is only available after completing GUURAY or another gathering on the land, and is entered through invitation and mutual alignment.

Duration:
1–4 moon cycles (minimum 3 moon commitment)

Living Contribution (monthly):

This contribution reflects the current reality of holding the land while renting, and supports the shared infrastructure and development of JAANYMILI.

• Land access (rent): approx $20 per day

• Community kitty: $40 per week per person

• JAANYMILI contribution: supporting infrastructure, tools, and the ongoing holding of the space

While the land is currently rented, contributions are adjusted to meet this cost. As the land transitions into stewardship, this structure will evolve.

Food:

Food is not included in the base contribution.

• Individuals or families may self-provide

• Optional communal food kitty: $150 per week
  (bulk purchasing, shared meals, coordinated together, this does not cover all your meals, price point is accessible to have many meals together while leaving your budget open to purchase personal faves)

The community kitty contributes to shared essentials such as animals, land care, and collective resources. There is also an abundant garden and space to grow — the more hands in the garden, the more we can reduce the cost of food and increase shared abundance.

What is asked of you

This village breathes through our shared tending.

Each member contributes an average of 18–20 hours per week toward the thriving of the sanctuary — through work that is physical, creative, relational, or logistical.

This includes:

• Food growing and harvesting

• Cooking shared meals (mainly dinner)

• Animal care

• Maintenance, cleaning, and building

• Workshop and retreat support

• Family meetings

• Offering your unique skills where they are needed

Contribution

3 month commitment: $4,080
Optional 4th month: + $1,360

Food is separate, with the option to join the communal food kitty.

Application and Agreement

Entry into BARRWAYA is through application and shared alignment.

If an application is not accepted, all funds are returned in full.

If a stay is shorter than the agreed duration, a fair daily rate is applied and any remaining funds are returned based on time spent and circumstances.

All contributions are held as a daily exchange for time, space, and shared living.

This way of life asks for presence and participation.

Through shared time, responsibility, and care for the land and each other, something real begins to take shape.

A step into ongoing living and shared responsibility within JAANYMILI.

MURRUY follows the completion of BARRWAYA, where individuals and families have lived the rhythm of the land and demonstrated alignment with the community's way of being. This stage reflects a deeper sense of belonging — contributing to the care and direction of the space over time.

Weekly Contributions

Landholder Contribution
Supporting access to the land and paid directly to the landholder.

• $140 per week, per site

JAANYMILI Contribution
Supporting the growth, development and future vision of JAANYMILI, including shared infrastructure, community spaces, resources, accessibility initiatives and the continued unfolding of the sanctuary.

• Single adult household — $210 per week

• Couple/Family household — $300 per week

Food may be self-managed or shared through a communal food system, organised together separately.

Contributions may be made monthly, quarterly, six-monthly or as a full nine-moon commitment.

JAANYMILI contributions made during MURRUY continue toward the BARRMARRANY (Family) pathway.

We recognise that each person's circumstances are different. While the contributions outlined above provide the foundation that supports the thriving of JAANYMILI, we remain open to conversations around alternative pathways of exchange where genuine need exists.

Our intention is to honour both accessibility and reciprocity, recognising that contribution can take many forms when approached with honesty, care and mutual agreement.

By the time MURRUY is entered, individuals and families have already become an integral part of the life and rhythms of JAANYMILI. Through shared meals, conversations, projects, celebrations and challenges, relationships have deepened and trust has been cultivated over time.

MURRUY is not about proving yourself. It is an invitation into deeper participation — recognising the gifts, care and devotion already being offered, while stepping more fully into the shared responsibility of community life.

We are grateful for those who choose to walk this path with us. The sanctuary is shaped by the presence, wisdom and contributions of each person who calls it home.

Resident Guardians contribute approximately 18–20 hours each week toward the thriving of the sanctuary. This contribution may take many forms and is guided by individual gifts, capacity and the changing needs of the community.

As those who have already completed BARRWAYA, MURRUY Guardians are invited to deepen their participation through greater contribution, leadership and shared responsibility within community life.

This may include:

• Food growing and harvesting

• Cooking shared meals

• Animal care

• Maintenance, cleaning and building

• Workshop and retreat support

• Family meetings and process work

• Holding lead roles and areas of responsibility within the community

• Mentoring and welcoming newer members

• Offering your gifts where they are most needed

Participation is steady, self-responsible and transparent, with regular reflection supporting communication, balance and the continued flourishing of the community.

Entry into MURRUY arises through invitation and mutual alignment.

BARRMARRANY KIN {Family} – Elder Guardian

A step into long-term commitment, shared guardianship and deep belonging within JAANYMILI.

BARRMARRANY is entered after sustained participation in community life, or by invitation. By this stage, individuals and families have already invested deeply through relationship, contribution and shared experience. This pathway reflects a deepening into guardianship — holding the land, the people and the dreaming that calls us together.

BARRMARRANY is not a beginning, but a continuation of a path already being walked.

$140,000 per household
$90,000 per person for couples

BARRMARRANY contributions reflect a long-term commitment to the future security and flourishing of JAANYMILI.

Contributions made through earlier pathways are recognised and carried forward into this stage, honouring the investment of time, energy and resources already offered through community life.

As the land is currently rented, a portion of contributions may support present land access and the practical needs of community life. The remainder is directed toward the JAANYMILI Trust, with the intention of securing land to be held in service of the community and its vision for generations to come.

We recognise that people arrive with different gifts, resources and circumstances. For this reason, BARRMARRANY contributions may be offered through a combination of pathways, including:

• Lump sum contributions

• Instalment arrangements

• Ongoing weekly contributions

• Agreed work-based exchanges and income-generating initiatives within the community

• Contributions already made through previous JAANYMILI pathways

The intention is not uniformity, but reciprocity — ensuring that each Guardian is contributing meaningfully toward the shared vision of land security and the long-term flourishing of JAANYMILI.

Living and Space

BARRMARRANY includes the creation and ongoing holding of your home within JAANYMILI.

Spaces are developed over time, often through shared building, collaboration and the natural unfolding of each family or individual's needs. This may include simple dwellings, temporary structures or more established private quarters.

Homes are part of a living landscape — shaped in relationship with the land, the community and the evolving vision of JAANYMILI.

Guardians are supported in creating spaces that are functional, beautiful and aligned with the values of the sanctuary.

Role and Commitments

BARRMARRANY reflects a stage of deep belonging, where individuals and families step into shared guardianship of JAANYMILI.

As Guardians of JAANYMILI, members hold responsibility for areas of the land, projects and community life, while remaining in relationship with the whole.

Leadership is both shared and held.

The direction of JAANYMILI is guided through a clear vision that is actively lived and tended, ensuring coherence and integrity as the community evolves.

Within this, each Guardian carries leadership in their own areas of responsibility — offering their gifts, projects and presence into the collective, while contributing to the shared direction of the space.

Daily and Weekly Rhythm

Guardians are present within the daily life of the land.

This may include:

• Meditation, Yoga Flow, Zenthai lessons or other group presence offerings (approximately five times per week)

• Shared dinners and communal meals throughout the week

• Offering approximately 18–20 hours per week toward land care, food growing, building projects, animal care or income-generating initiatives

• Supporting workshops and gatherings through food preparation, welcoming, set-up and holding space

Communal Flow

Contribution is offered in steady and sustainable rhythms.

Participation may take many forms and is shaped by individual gifts, capacity and the changing needs of the community.

Eldership, rest, injury, illness, blood cycles, menopause and parenting rhythms are honoured, with flexibility held throughout each moon cycle.

• Shared learning and study opportunities

Decision-Making and Culture

Decision-making is guided through sociocratic principles and held within the Guardians Circle.

There is an openness to learning, growth and participation in shared frameworks that support communication, governance and collective clarity.

Where a Guardian chooses to step away from BARRMARRANY, contributions may be partially returned through the Graceful Exit process. This is considered in relation to time within the community, use of shared resources, contributions already received and the availability of the Graceful Exit Fund.
