Residencies
Residencies offer an opportunity to spend an extended period of time immersed in the rhythms of JAANYMILI.
Whether you are an artist, healer, educator, practitioner, writer, builder or simply someone longing for space to deepen into a project or season of life, residencies invite a slower and more intentional way of being.
Participants are welcomed into the everyday flow of community life while also being supported to explore their own creative, professional or personal aspirations.
Residencies are shaped through relationship, mutual alignment and the unique gifts each person brings.
We believe that when people are nourished to create, reflect and share their wisdom, the whole community benefits.
Possible Residencies
Village Residency
Immerse yourself in the everyday rhythms of JAANYMILI — sharing meals, participating in communal life, contributing to meaningful projects and experiencing the beauty and complexity of village living. A chance to slow down, reconnect and explore what becomes possible when people gather in devotion, reciprocity and care.
Zenthai Residency
For Zenthai practitioners, trainees and curious beginners wishing to deepen through immersion in a community where Zenthai is woven into everyday life. Participate in practice exchanges, Yoga Flow, clinics, shared learning and the simple rhythms of living alongside others who value touch, presence and embodied wisdom.
Artist Residency
Space to create, reflect and share your craft within the rhythms of community life.
Healing Arts Residency
For practitioners of Zenthai, bodywork, herbalism and other healing modalities seeking immersion, exchange and ongoing learning.
Ceremony & Circle Residency
For those called to deepen into the art of gathering — exploring song circles, drumming, ritual, women's mysteries, community ceremonies and the practices that cultivate belonging, reverence and meaningful connection.
Natural Building Residency
Supporting the creation of beautiful, functional spaces through bamboo, mud, reciprocal building and regenerative design.
Weaving Residency
Deepen into native fibre weaving, traditional skills and the art of creating with your hands.
Land Stewardship Residency
Explore syntropic agroforestry, food sovereignty, animal husbandry and regenerative ways of tending the land.
Writer's Residency
Time and space to listen deeply, write, reflect and share stories that matter.
Educator Residency
For those exploring alternative education, intergenerational learning and community-centred approaches to sharing wisdom.
Self-Directed Residency
For individuals who feel called to immerse themselves in the rhythms of JAANYMILI while pursuing a project, practice or personal season of growth.
Residency Length
Initial Residency — 2 to 4 weeks
An opportunity to experience the rhythms of JAANYMILI, build relationships and explore whether this style of living feels aligned.
Extended Residency — 1 to 3 months
Available through mutual agreement following an initial residency period. This allows both the individual and the community to move slowly, communicate openly and establish healthy expectations.
Longer-term pathways may naturally emerge from here, though there is no expectation that they must.
Residency Dates
Residencies are welcomed throughout the year through conversation and mutual alignment.
Current Intake
July 2026 — accepting expressions of interest for 2–4 week residencies.
Future Intakes
Spring 2026 — September to November
Summer 2026/2027 — December to February
Autumn 2027 — March to May
Winter 2027 — June to August
Residencies are shaped through relationship, community capacity and the unique intentions of each resident. We recommend applying 4–8 weeks prior to your preferred arrival date to allow space for conversation, planning and preparation.
Guided by Relationship
Residencies are held by the people who call JAANYMILI home.
Depending on the focus of your residency, you may find yourself learning alongside practitioners, builders, gardeners, artists, educators, animal carers and community members who generously share their lived experience and skills.
At the heart of all residencies is Ashleigh Hart, who gently weaves together the threads of village life, helping residents connect with the people, projects and practices that align with their interests and intentions.
JAANYMILI is not built upon one teacher or one way of being. Rather, it is an ecosystem of shared wisdom, where learning flows through relationship, participation and the everyday moments of life together.
What does the residency contribution include
Residency contributions support both the practical holding of your stay and the time, energy and care involved in welcoming people into the rhythms of JAANYMILI.
This includes camping within designated residency areas, access to shared community spaces, orientation into daily life and guidance in connecting with the people, projects and experiences that align with your residency intentions.
Residents are invited into the everyday flow of community life — learning through participation, observation, conversation and shared experience.
Food, private sessions and specific workshops or gatherings may be arranged separately where relevant.
